My Story

Like so many couples, my marriage didn't work out. It all came crashing down in rather epic fashion, despite years of red flags. One weekend after a close friend’s wedding, it all ended. The details aren't crucial, but suffice to say it had been exhausting to maintain the facade of a "perfect" marriage. The end of our relationship was a painful, eye-opening experience. Fortunately, I had family and the best squad of girlfriends who provided unwavering support and strength as things progressed from bad to worse.

At the time, my career was also in turmoil, and I was fighting for my financial survival. I always thought common sense and fairness would prevail in the family law system, but I couldn't have been more wrong. The next ten years involved countless court appearances, numerous mediators, various attorneys, and a revolving door of family law judges issuing inconsistent rulings. I discovered, to my dismay, that some judges had never even dealt with family law before. It was a real (and disheartening) eye-opener!

Out of frustration and anger at dealing with the family courts, the idea for Analyse the Assets was born. Over time, I transformed that anger into a genuine passion for helping couples avoid costly litigation and achieve fair, equitable settlements through divorce financial analysis and mediation services. I've witnessed court rulings that were disastrous for families, especially those with children.

My journey as a divorce financial analyst eventually expanded to include mediation and collaborative divorce services. Who knows what services we might offer next, but my hope is that Analyse the Assets continues to grow into a compelling company that actively engages with the divorce community. I want to contribute to the world, not take away from it and I hope that I am always learning and challenging myself to do better. I'm continually encouraged and humbled by the accomplishments and kindness of people I meet along the way, and I hope to never stop seeing the humor in things and finding the joys in life.

Outside of my professional life, I am a doted on daughter by my amazing and supportive mum. I’m also a proud single parent of two wonderful, kind and funny adult sons. They have been my biggest inspiration from day one of my journey. Our experiences together have shaped my understanding of family dynamics during and after divorce and the importance of maintaining strong, healthy relationships.

My Approach to Divorce and Mortgages

In reality, the house - whether retaining the current home, doing a buyout or purchasing a new one - is often a major concern in divorce. As a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst with a background in mortgage and credit lending, I bring a unique set of skills to the table. Unlike many CDFAs who come from wealth management backgrounds, my expertise lies in understanding the complexities of credit lending and mortgage processes. This means I can provide my clients with detailed, practical advice on how to manage their most significant asset—their home—during and after a divorce.

For instance, when a client is struggling with the decision of whether to keep the marital home, my deep understanding of refinancing options and mortgage terms allows us to explore all possible avenues. Together, we can assess the reality of retaining the property, consider the long-term financial implications, and ultimately make informed decisions that align with the financial goals and emotional well-being of the party.

My hands-on experience in mortgage lending also means I’m well-versed in navigating complex income and credit scenarios. Whether dealing with an underwater mortgage or negotiating a buyout, I can provide helpful guidance that ensures my clients make the best decisions for their future.

In contrast to wealth managers who might primarily focus on investments, my approach is comprehensive by integrating mortgage-related solutions with broader financial planning. This ensures that my clients are not only managing their immediate needs but also building a stable, secure financial future.

Ultimately, my goal is to support my clients through every step of their transition, offering empathy, expertise, and a personal touch that makes a real difference during one of life’s most challenging times.
